ILCC Golf Teams Finish Runners-Up at NIACC Spring Invite

The Iowa Lakes Men's and Women's Golf team were in action Monday at the NIACC Spring Invite hosted at Highland Park Golf Course in Mason City, IA. After a day where the Laker Men posted their best score of the spring they topped it by 14 strokes shooting a 299 and finishing 2nd for the tournament. Iowa Central won the meet with a 286 with the help of a 66 by Clint Davis taking medalist honors. For the Lakers they were led by Nathan Spoo finishing with a 72 to tie for 3rd place, Ryan Stevens was close by with a 73 to tie for 5th place, Josh Ellanson shot a 76 placing in a tie for 9th, and Adam Oster shot a 78. Non-counting score was Zach Woldruff with an 82. Iowa Lakes also had two individuals in the field Davis Jacobson finished tied for 9th with a 76, and Matt Kosbob shot an 80 for 22nd place. On the Women's side the Lakers also finished 2nd with a 387 being edged by AIB by 7 strokes. The Laker women were led by meet medalist Macy Milburn who shot an 87. Meaghan Schmidt was in a tie for 4th with a 91, Karlee Schneekloth finished 11th with a 104, and Taylor Ask fired a 105 for a tie for 12th place. Non counting score for the Laker women was Ashley Miller with a 106.
Spirit Lake Park Boys Track Compete at Sioux City Relays

The Spirit Lake Park boys' track team competed at the Sioux City Relays on Saturday, placing top three in all of the events the Indians participated in.
It was a first place finish for Alec Baldwin in the 1600M run (4:22.01), and a win in the 4x400 and 4x800 for Kevin Martinson, Aric Waltz, Luke Kabele, and Kayne Feldick (3:33.05 & 8:09.51).
The Indians also earned a second place finish in the discus by Dalton Kelley (156’-3”) and in the distance medley relay for Martinson, Waltz, Kabele, and Feldick (3:44.55).
Laker Softball Splits Doubleheader With Iowa Central

The ILCC Laker softball team combined aggressive baserunning, key hitting and a solid pitching performance from Taylor Mackey to defeat #12 Iowa Central 6-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on a windy day in Estherville on Wednesday. Kelsey Ennenga was 2-3 at the plate with a double.
In game one the Tritons forced 5 Laker errors as they took the first of the doubleheader by a score of 6-1. Carla Carrillo homered in the third inning and was the lone bright spot for the Lakers. The split Wednesday puts the Iowa Lakes Softball team alone in third place half way through the conference season.
The Lakers are now 15-7 overall and continue the 8 game home stand Saturday at 1pm with "Strikeout Cancer" vs. Southwestern and again Sunday at noon vs. Marshalltown.
